Things are getting weird at OpenAI.
The prolific startup is taking steps to evolve into a full-fledged for-profit company. Once a non-profit with a mission to ensure "safe AGI (artificial general intelligence) that is broadly beneficial," OpenAI has been slowly shifting gears since 2019, when it established a for-profit arm.
Now, it appears ready to shed the oversight of its non-profit board entirely.
